A Cozy Catch-Up

Published on 5 March 2025 at 10:00

Stuck at home in the midst of the flu, I find myself in deep connection with myself. After a long month filled with friends, happiness, lots of Dunkin’ coffee, and music, I finally have the opportunity to take a sick day and catch up on all the fun things your favorite writer has endured! A Cozy Catch-Up is in order, so please grab your favorite coffee-inspired drink, sit back, and read.

Galentine’s was a complete success, overflowing with love, amazing food, and fun activities. The girls and I had an absolute blast, I was surrounded by so much love. Driving around all day with one of my best friends, Fiona, was such a surreal moment for us. From starting our morning at a favorite waffle joint to setting up heart-shaped balloons, she had me smiling the entire day. I’m so grateful for her.

A week after Galentine’s, I had my 18th birthday party at one of my favorite places, The Crafty Shack, a ceramic painting shop where you can choose an item and paint whatever comes to mind. It was incredible, from the chocolate cupcakes to my friends and family standing beside me, I had such a blast. My best friend, Jill, got me the most thoughtful gifts, and I was so happy to see and hug her on my special day. On my actual birthday (the day after), I went to my favorite restaurant, Noodlehead, arguably one of the best Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh. I’m not kidding, I fell in love. My gratitude is devoted to my Mom, making both days very special and gifting me the Cinderella Pandora ring I’ve been wanting. She is truly something special, and I am so glad I got to spend my weekend with her!

The start of adulthood seems a bit daunting. I don’t exactly have any spectacular plans settled just yet, and to be honest, I feel a little under-accomplished for not having my license, something I thought I would have six months after my 16th birthday. But it’s important to set goals and boundaries, which is why I promised myself I will get my license before August. Before college, I have to cross that line!

Work has been incredibly rewarding these past few weeks. Aside from the occasional oddball interaction, I’ve had a blast giving back to my community. Working at Kohl’s has been a whirlwind, but I’m grateful for the experiences and interactions I’ve had there. Even though I know I won’t be there forever, Kohl’s will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve learned so many lessons.

And as for the music school, things have been amazing. I’ve never felt more complete or proud than when I’m there. I also picked up learning the guitar, with a great teacher, Ben! The experience has been so incredibly special.

This past month has been insane, to say the least. The last few days forced me to slow down, visit the doctor, and rest. But now that I’m getting back on my feet, I’m thrilled to write, play, and share my love for the world. Sitting outside on the deck with Millie, enjoying a morning scratcher with Pap, a sit-down dinner at the Asian buffet with a close friend, or even playing a dare game with Jill and Caden, those are the little moments that feel just right.

Leave your favorite moments from February below!
