Winter Thread

After seeing a lot of snot falling from my students’ noses and hearing countless coughs this weekend, I quickly realized that these chilly months bring more than just cold weather—they also bring important life experiences. I've always loved winter: the snowfall, the hot chocolate, and cozying up to a warm Christmas movie. To continue my poetry series, I’ve decided to make this one winter-themed.

Senior Sunday

When I was in second grade, my teacher assigned each of us to create our own "chapter book." It was the first time I truly remember enjoying the beauty of writing and creating something all my own. Those little memories from my childhood blossomed into something grander, turning my love for writing and reading into passions I’ve relied on for years. Now, as a senior, with only a few Sundays left in my high school career, I find myself reflecting on everything I’m grateful for, what I’ve accomplished so far, and what I hope to achieve in the years to come.

Halloween Eve

Halloween is a time of spooks and scares, highlighting core memories for people of all ages. Growing up, Halloween and the month of October meant a lot to me for plenty of reasons, but mostly because it was a time my family and I bonded over the silly traditions these occasions brought. Between pumpkin carving, and dressing up as our favorite characters to go Trick Or Treating, it was an exciting time in my childhood. I’d like to take this post to share what these times were like.

A Year in Review

About a year ago, after experiencing significant changes in my life, I longed for a platform to share my writings. The pieces I create are rooted in my feelings, experiences, and my journey through life. Initially, when the idea of starting a blog came to me, I hesitated, thinking I lacked the time and resources to commit. However, I’m so grateful that I took that leap of faith into giving what began as a simple idea, which has profoundly impacted my life. Today, I’m excited to celebrate the first anniversary of Coffee Talk with Jill! In honor of this milestone, I want to establish a tradition of reflecting on what Coffee Talk means to us and why we engage in these special conversations.

Autumn Thread

This thread represents a bit of love, hope, dismay, and happiness between different autumn themes. I wanted to make a diverse thread, where the audience could relate and feel inside of the mind of the main character. Metaphorically speaking, various parts of the thread compares objects of fall time to real life feelings and thoughts.

School's Back!

As the seasons change, so do we. It feels like just a day ago I released, “School’s Out,” on my blog. Well, school’s back! I was so excited to finally have a break from the workload of school and, even more importantly, to spend time with my friends and family. My junior summer was a time of happiness, dreams, and security. Throughout the summer season, I was the luckiest girl, friend, and daughter. Similarly to my recap of the school year, this piece will be a recap of summer ‘24.

A Sonnet's Dream

Every little girl dreams of the day they get to show off her fancy ring, walk down the aisle with the man who raised her, and kiss their lover in a rose-lit garden or sandy beach shore with their friends and family gathered to celebrate. I haven’t experienced many weddings in my life, but what I witnessed at this celebration was spiritual and warm. My friend, Sonnet, had a beautiful wedding, and it would be a disservice not to share her special day.

Summer Thread

This week I made a thread about a certain someone that I hold very dear to me by also threading in the joys of summertime. All of the poems I have created have a double meaning, and what makes poetry so beautiful is the ambiguity it holds. My hope as a writer is that others can enjoy my poetry while also relating to what the poems mean personally. This thread has multiple free-verse poems, a sonnet and a haiku. I hope you enjoy. :)

Inner Circle

We all have times when others will see our worst. Living in a world where rules are made to be broken and the people closest to you, including yourself, are bound to make mistakes, is not always the easiest. The people we choose to let in make or break the way we view the world. Love gives us a way to trust, make mistakes, and experience an important part of life. I want to share a bit more in-depth about this feeling, or this certain group of people, my inner circle.

Midnight Dreams (A Poetry Thread)

This week, I made a poetry thread that is slightly different from my previous threads. I made these as a spinoff from one of my favorite blog posts, Midnight Thoughts. I wanted to share more about the inner feelings of a so-called midnight thought in the mind of a teenage girl who believes in hope, love, and eternal happiness. In this thread, you will see various types of poetry structures like a sonnet, free verse, elegy, and haiku. As always, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy! :P

Millie

When I was younger, I spent a lot of time with my family. Long before my PA Cyber days, and before my parents separated, I had two dogs. Bringing home a puppy is such an astounding feeling with love and pure warmth at the center. Before you know it, your little pup will soon become the glue to the family. The first two dogs I was absolutely blessed with was Louie, a chubby, but witty yellow lab, and Ogie, an English Mastiff that had slobber pouring from his cheeks were two of my biggest companions.
