Valentine’s Day – an ever-recurring theme here on the blog. Last year, on this life-sucking holiday, I found myself wrapped in the magic of Disney, surrounded by love, princesses, and pixie dust, all while nursing a minor heartbreak that felt a little too major at the time. Funny how that works, right?
But here we are again, faced with the age-old debate: Is Valentine’s Day a true celebration of love, or just a capitalist cash grab designed to drain lovesick souls like me of our hard-earned money? I mean, how much are we really pouring into overpriced teddy bears and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates? (Whitman’s Samplers are an exception, though.)
Fast forward to this year, spoiler alert: I’ve already spent way too much money, and I don’t even have a valentine. But who needs one when you can throw your own Galentine’s Party? And let me tell you, I am absolutely thrilled. I’m hosting a cozy get-together with some incredible friends I’ve made and connected with over the past year. Each one holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to spend the day painting, laughing, and indulging in all the delicious food we can get our hands on.

Speaking of deliciousness, last weekend, I took a little detour to a beloved coffee spot nestled right in our tiny town of Greensburg. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a caffeine-fueled daydream. Small, but oh-so-charming, with perfectly curated music, warm lighting, and décor that gave off the coziest vibes. Sitting in a small room with coffee lovers, I felt like I was in just the right spot.
Naturally, their menu was Valentine’s-themed, and being the coffee addict I am, I had to give the Love You S’more Macchiato a whirl. Let me just say: chef’s kiss. They also had an impressive lineup of drinks featuring macaroons, cheesecake, raspberry, and, wait for it, a Sabrina Carpenter-inspired drink. For a brief moment, I think my heart actually melted.
What we should focus on, year after year, are the people who stick with us – the ones who find a way to mend our hearts and shape our love. Finding those who truly care for and love you is what really matters. That’s why belting Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” might not be the ultimate cure for anyone’s problems, but it still feels pretty great in the moment.
So, whether you’re splurging on overpriced chocolates, planning the ultimate Galentine’s bash, or simply sipping on a dreamy coffee creation, here’s to celebrating love in all its forms. Because at the end of the day, a good cup of coffee and a little self-love can be just as sweet as any grand romantic gesture.
Happy Valentine’s day
Xoxo,
Jill

Love is a trip to Dunky before work with your favorite chauffeur , watching the Rookie the next day on demand. Putting the old man’s leg wrap on and scratching off a ticket,
Love you kid
