The Whisper of Nature (A Poetry Thread)

Published on 30 January 2025 at 10:00

As I wrap up my senior year, I’ve found myself with more free time to connect with friends and family, all while embracing the quiet whispers of nature. During these cold, snowy months, I often find myself longing for the long, sun-filled summer days, the crisp breeze in the air, and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. Nature has a way of making everything feel more alive, more meaningful, and I hope my reflection on it resonates with you, as it does with me.

Opposite Ends

The moon is a fragile, celestial girl,

Soft as a whisper, in a silvery swirl,

Born to love, yet destined to fall,

A tender heart that answers the call,

The sun is a golden, powerful boy,

Bringing warmth, spreading joy,

Created to heal, yet burdened to feel,

A flame that burns, yet can’t quite heal,

When they need each other, the most they will stray,

A dance of shadows, they drift away,

Chasing the light, from dusk until dawn,

They never meet, yet linger on,

Missed by the sunrise, or the evening’s last glow,

Fate turns its back, while the winds softly blow,

No hand to guide them, no love to protect,

The moon and the sun, both lost in neglect,

The chase is thrilling, a love yet unknown,

The sun wants to love, but stands all alone,

The moon longs to give, but can never stay,

A cycle eternal, they fade away.

Whisper of the Wind

A chill breeze stirs beneath the grass,
Lifting softly, it calls through the trees,
Knocking gently on your window,
Slipping through the cracks, it seeks entry,

It touches your skin like a secret,
Whispering tales only the quiet can hear,
It lifts the freckles on your face,
And brightens the weight of a sleepy dawn,

The breeze dances with the leaves,
Each movement crossing the earth,
Binding us all in silence,
A reminder to pause, and listen close,

For in its quiet path, we are one,
The wind speaks in every breath,
Never to disregard the whispers of nature,
For they guide us, gently, always, forward.

Lost Lavender

The scent of water after rain,
Laced in fields where the fresh earth lays,
An innocent memory, pure and new,
It always brings me back to you,

Lavish hues of amethyst light,
Caught in eyes that once shone so bright,
Your love, evanescent, fading fast,
Keeps me tied down to the past,

Running through grass, playing games,
Stung by a bee, the seasons change,
Your hand upon my shoulder, so true,
Now I’m lost in the remainder of you.

Endless Dreams

Stuck in place, lost in a dream,
Aware of the world, yet not as it seems,
In places so magical, sacred, and bright,
Guided through skies of celestial light,

Clouds so soft, like pillows to bounce,
Trees stretching high, in a limitless dance,
Flowers bloom with each step I take,
A perfect world, the world that I make,

But then comes the whisper, soft as a breeze,
Goodbye to the birds, the flowers, the bees,
I wake to a world that's cold and gray,
The price of dreaming, the cost we pay.
