I often find myself reflecting on gratitude: the people, experiences, and moments I’m thankful for. Writing has become my way of pausing to appreciate the life I’m building and acknowledging how, even in the toughest times, happiness always seems to find a way to return to me. After ringing in the New Year, I took some time to reflect on the year that passed, spending quality moments with the people I cherish most and thinking about everything I achieved in 2024.
Looking back, I’m deeply grateful for the growth and lessons that came from both the challenges and successes of the year. Every setback taught me something valuable, reminding me that it’s okay to prioritize myself, to take care of my own well-being. Life may knock you down, but there’s always someone: family, friends, or loved ones, there to help you get back up.

One relationship I’m especially thankful for is the bond I share with my grandparents. Whether I need advice or a ride to work, I know I can count on them just as they can count on me. The memories I’ve made with them like our early morning breakfasts at Denny’s or bringing Pap a drink at 2 AM are some of my most treasured. This year, their wisdom and support were crucial in helping me grow into a better person, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
2024 was also a year of hard work, especially for my mom and I. Both of us pushed ourselves to the limit. My mom working toward her nursing degree, while maintaining a full time job, and me tackling schoolwork and all the challenges that came with it. While there were moments of frustration, like struggling through a bad grades, I learned that perseverance is what truly matters. This year marks a significant milestone: my mom will graduate from nursing school, and I’ll graduate from high school. Our shared dedication made this year feel especially meaningful, and I know it will all pay off in the end.
My best friend, Jill, and I made countless memories together in 2024 including endless sleepovers, pool days, dinners, and movie marathons. Our friendship blossomed in ways that only deepened my gratitude for her. She’s always made me feel valued and loved, and spending time together has been a true highlight of my year. She’s my green bean to my five-layer beefy burrito, and I am forever thankful for the sisterhood we share.
I’m also grateful for the opportunities 2024 gave me. Working with my Kohl’s friends, singing with Maestro Minds, cuddling with Millie, enjoying dinners at Olive Garden with my cousins, and, of course, having the chance to write are moments, both big and small, added up to a year filled with joy and fulfillment. As I reflect on 2024, I can’t help but feel excited for the future ahead. I’m looking forward to college and continuing my journey to help children and advocate for those who need a voice.
In 2025, I’ll walk across the graduation stage in my cap and gown, ready to embrace the next chapter of my life. I know that the future is bright, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything 2024 has taught me. Here’s to the new adventures that await!
