This week, I made a poetry thread that is slightly different from my previous threads. I made these as a spinoff from one of my favorite blog posts, Midnight Thoughts. I wanted to share more about the inner feelings of a so-called midnight thought in the mind of a teenage girl who believes in hope, love, and eternal happiness. In this thread, you will see various types of poetry structures like a sonnet, free verse, elegy, and haiku. As always, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy! :P
Midnight Dreams
Midnight Sky
Haiku
The night sky glistens
With stars and specs of glitter
Lost in midnight thoughts
Kitty
Free-verse
a celestial black cat
stalks around the street
she stops in front of a house
caught staring, and as quiet as a mouse
a misunderstood little thing
creeps quietly along the door
she knows inside there is love
and a place to sleep, quietly above
still, she thinks it would be better
to sleep underneath a torn-up sweater
behind the corner of the alley-way
even though all she wants to do is play
so she prances down the street
just to go to sleep
alone and afraid
the little kitty, so dismayed
questions for you -
sonnet
do you think of me?
when you see two friends, strolling down the road
skipping to the heat of the day
two vanilla lattes in each hand
did you let it be?
when the feeling of love slowed
the end of us replayed
until the back of your mind couldn’t withstand
did you try to flee?
the guilt that showed
when you strayed so far away
from me and the salty sea sand
do you feel free?
now that the ties are sewn
all the memories we made
are emptied with each strand
the betrayal and hurt that we became
was once love, and there’s only one to blame
A Midnight Elegy
Elegy
From my sorrowful love, and to your sorrowful hate
From the happiest memories to the ones I wish you could take
From my childhood youth and your growing away
From the time you left me and strayed the other way
From when we were kids, and playing a game
From the time you granted me the biggest of pains
From my sadness and sorrow and all types of grief
From my missings of you and my lessenings of sleep
From the snuggles and cuddles, we had just as children
From the mornings and evenings of each of the seasons
From the falling asleeps and the reading of books
From the following of each of the turns and the looks
From the deeps and depths from the bottom of my heart
From the sparks of the fire, I wish you the best of luck
From the thought of losing a bond such as ours
From the midnight exchange of blowing out the fire
Latte Love,
Jill☕️
