Bitter

Published on 3 April 2024 at 09:00

Sometimes those midnight thoughts that are picking away at your brain will slowly eat at your soul whether you want it to or not. I love it when my life is simple and dainty. Waking up to complete online classes while snuggling on the couch with my dog, Millie is something that really warms my heart. Right now I feel that everything in my life is chaotic and unstable and there’s only one way I can describe it. I feel bitter. In life, there will always be ups and downs. Sometimes I feel like I’m on a fluffy, marshmallow cloud in the warm sky and nothing can stop me. On the other hand, sometimes I feel like a little popped balloon deflated all the way to the bare grounds of Earth.

My mom doesn’t always have the best advice, but one thing she tells me that will be sewn into my brain forever is the phrase, “Everything happens for a reason.” I firmly believe this. If I don’t have hope that someday great things will come to me, then I can’t hope for anything. Quite frankly, we Blasko women don’t exactly have the best luck with relationships friendships, or families. (I’m not kidding.) I’ve been feeling a little down lately, so I took it upon myself to list the people and things in my life that I completely and utterly love. Although losing people who you thought loved you sucks, whether they are blood or not, it is important to realize what you already have. I wanted to share my appreciation for the little things in life that don’t make me so bitter.

  • My family (Mom, Gram, Pap)
  • Friends (Jill, Isa, Summer, etc.)
  • Coffee Talk
  • The music school
  • My theater family (Lily, Jen, Mia, Alayna)
  • Poetry
  • Reading
  • Piano and singing
  • Health
  • Love

If you are ever feeling sad or bitter, make sure to remind yourself of the things that make you happy. Redirecting your mind to appreciate the people and places you have set in your life is much more worth it than focusing negative energy on people who can’t love. Find a good book, distract yourself with work, or release endorphins by cuddling and petting one of your animals. Getting lost in a different world can cure a hurt soul.

My appreciation for Coffee Talk is bonded to my heart, so please do not fret. I promise that Coffee Talk is most definitely not going anywhere, and will live through my future endeavors. Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far and to my supporters just joining, I am so very grateful you’re here. Although things are changing a bit, we will just have to embrace new circumstances like a soft morning breeze.

Latte Love,

Jill
